Social Work Up
Social Work Up Camp (SWUC) is a national flagship program launched by Alfariq Association to promote youth leadership, civic engagement, and volunteerism in Morocco. Designed for young people aged 16 to 25 from across the country, the camp provides a dynamic and immersive learning space where participants strengthen their personal and collective capacities while reconnecting with the realities of community life. Held in diverse rural and urban environments—from Ouarzazate to Ait Ben Haddou to Ait Ourir—SWUC offers a unique experience that blends theoretical insight with field-based action. It is more than a training program; it is a transformative journey that challenges young people to reflect on their role in society and to co-create solutions for the communities they care about. SWUC positions itself as a national platform where ideas, initiatives, and leadership skills converge.

Our Methodology and Learning Experience
The educational model of SWUC is built around experiential learning and collective action. The camp’s structure combines intensive training workshops, expert-led panels, interactive discussions, and social labs where participants are guided in developing project ideas that respond to local social needs. Each activity is designed to deepen understanding of key civic concepts such as participatory democracy, associative work, sustainable development, and community mobilization. Through these diverse formats, young participants acquire the skills to design, manage, and advocate for social initiatives. In parallel, the camp nurtures soft skills—public speaking, conflict resolution, teamwork, and networking—which are essential for effective leadership. The inclusion of group challenges and peer feedback ensures that learning is both reflective and action-oriented. SWUC encourages every participant to leave with not just knowledge, but with the confidence and tools to become agents of change in their local context.
Volunteer Challenge & Real-local Impact
One of the camp’s most powerful components is the Volunteer Challenge—a community immersion activity where participants put their skills into practice by designing and implementing volunteer actions in underserved areas. This challenge is not simply symbolic; it is a concrete opportunity for youth to engage with real-local issues, build empathy, and co-create with local residents. From environmental cleanups and school beautification to awareness campaigns and educational workshops with children, the Volunteer Challenge highlights the role of youth as drivers of local change. It also reinforces values such as responsibility, teamwork, and social solidarity. Beyond its immediate impact, this experience helps youth understand the systemic nature of community challenges and encourages them to approach development work with humility and creativity. SWUC is committed to shaping a generation of proactive, thoughtful, and socially conscious leaders who see civic engagement not as a choice, but as a long-term commitment to collective progress.
